What are Public Utilities: Services owned by a municipality or utility company are marked for free when you contact the 811 Before You Dig service. In Tennessee, state law requires calling 811 or visiting Tennessee 811 at least three full business days before any excavation. Public locates stop at the meter or point of service.
What are Private Utilities: are underground or surface utility lines and infrastructure that are owned and maintained by the property owner rather than a public utility company
